Akwa Ibom: Jubilation As Govt Pays N30,000 Minimum Wage With Arrears

The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has paid the new N30,000 minimum wage salary for the month of February to workers in the state. According to reports, the governor also paid the arrears of January salary which he promised the state.

 

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Accountant General of the state, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien, in which he said that the new minimum wage came into effect with the February 2020 salary while January arrears were also paid.

He lauded the governor for keeping to his word and his commitment towards the welfare of workers, stating that Governor Emmanuel is a worker-friendly governor.
