The senator representing Kogi West senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Dino Melaye, has given an indication that he might spurn the police invitation extended to him over Friday’s protest against the Osun gubernatorial election result.

The police invited Melaye, Senate President Bukola Saraki and senator representing Bayelsa East senatorial district, Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce over the protest visit to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The trio had led other powerful PDP leaders on the protest.

But in the invitation, the police said they were being invited for “disturbing public peace and violently hitting policemen to forcefully enter the Force Headquarters, Abuja.”

However, Melaye said the invitation was a “wicked” ploy by the police to keep the three of them away from the National Assembly resumption on October 9 “to attempt the agenda of leadership change”.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle on Saturday morning, Melaye said, “Police invitation of three of us, another wicked strategy to keep us away from resumption in NASS on the 9th to attempt the agenda of leadership change. I laugh in Swahili. All die na die.”
