Alves To Pedro: You Shouldn’t Have Gone To Chelsea

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has described Pedro Rodriguez’s move to Chelsea as a mistake, stating that the winger should have stayed with the Blaugrana.

Pedro had switched to the English champions in August from Barcelona, in a move that set the Stamford Bridge club back by £21million.

He has however struggled to make the much needed impact after initially scoring a goal and providing an assist on his debut against West Brom, in a game Chelsea won 3-2.

Chelsea, who are rooted to 16th place on the table, are struggling to stay out of the relegation zone in the current season and players like Pedro are not being left out of the blame game.

Pedro left the Catalan club because of lack of regular football, with the arrival last two seasons ago of Luis Suarez further restricting his options.

But Alves is not convinced Pedro made the right decision in switching to Chelsea.

He said:  “I told Pedro he should have stayed at the team but too many people got involved. Had he stayed, he would have been happy here, but we don’t make the decisions. If we did, I would want him to stay for years.”

Chelsea will get more opportunities to better their lot in the current season starting from October 17 when they play Aston Villa.
