Ambode expresses positive hopes as Lagos State joins Odu’a Group

Odu’a Group has integrated Lagos State as one of its members bringing the total number to six.

The Lagos state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode welcomed the development which he described as a major landmark towards regional integration of the South-Western states.

Mr Steve Ayorinde, the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy issued a statement on Wednesday wherein the Governor expressed his excitement and positive hopes. The Governor expressed further that “He observes that with its huge population, its vibrant economic base and its being the centre of economic and business activities in Nigeria, Lagos is uniquely placed to contribute to the development and growth of the Odu’a Investment Company Limited (OIC), the investment arm of the group, as well as the integration of South West Nigeria in general”.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ayorinde also said that “The governor expresses his gratitude to the group for the decision and looks forward to his government working with those of other States in the group towards the betterment and development of South West of Nigeria and its people”

The decision over admission of Lagos state as the sixth member of the Odu’a group, a matter which has been up for debate for four years was finally conclusive after the governors of Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Osun and Ekiti met for a meeting in Ibadan yesterday.

Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode also mentioned that his administration had given priority prior to this moment to joining and being a member of the Odu’a group while thanking his colleagues from the five states for their gesture in extending a hand of fellowship to Lagos state.
