An African-American woman, Tuhonsty Marie Smith, has been arrested on charges of arson, recklessly endangering safety, and causing mayhem after she set her husband ablaze.
The suspect, 29, reportedly told police that she took the course of action because she suspected that her husband poisoned her chicken wings on June 2.
New York Post quoted police as saying that around 4 a.m. the next day, the Milwaukee, Wisconsin resident filled a cup with lighter fluid, poured it on her husband’s head, and used a lighter to ignite it.
The victim, who suffered severe burns to his chest, head, ears, hands, neck, and face, was rushed to hospital by emergency responders.

He later told police that his wife had been acting strangely for the past four months.
He further revealed to police that they had a quarrel on June 2 because he told her he planned on quitting the marriage and moving out of their home.
The suspect will appear in court today.
