Prince Segun Adesegun, a former Deputy Governor to  Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, has accused his ex-boss of having something to hide by insisting on installing a successor.

The Punch quoted Adesegun as saying that only a man with something to hide would instead on imposing his own candidate on the people.

Recall that Amosun, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is backing  the governornship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) , Mr Adekunle Akinlade, against the APC candidate, Mr Dapo Abiodun.

Amosun is also the APC’s senatorial candidate for Ogun Central senatorial district.

Reacting to Amosun’s insistence on Akinlade, Adesegun said it was outrageous that Amosun that was chosen by the people would insist on choosing someone for the people.

Adesegun, who was Amosun’s deputy from 2011 to 2015, said, “What I believe is that a man that has gone to this level may have a lot of things to hide. I can tell you that it is insulting to the voters for you to say because you have become the governor, you have somebody for them. Can you imagine that happening in the United States?

“It is after your party has nominated a candidate that you can now say you are supporting him or her because it will be anti-democratic of you, who did not appoint yourself, to turn around and say you know more than the public. That is outrageous.

“You can advise, but not say compulsorily, it is your advice that must be taken. It is sheer arrogance.”
