‘Amotekun’: German Lawmaker Expresses Optimism in Security Outfit

The Deputy Majority Leader, German Federal Parliament, Mr Thorsten Frei, has expressed optimism in the establishment of ‘Amotekun’ outfit to further improve security in South-West states.

Frei, who is also Deputy Chairman, German Federal Parliamentary Group, disclosed this during his courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Mudashiru Obasa.

The lawmaker said ‘Amotekun’, which was a security outfit established by governors from the South-West, would further boost the rate of investment in the geopolitical zone.

He, therefore, commended the six South-West governors for the initiative in developing the security system in their states.

He noted that his visit had to do with ‘Legislative Work at the state level.

Frei, who is also a top functionary of Germany’s ruling Christian Democratic Union, expressed  pleasure at the pace of development in Lagos State.

Speaking, Obasa assured the German lawmaker that the state legislature would ensure that the ‘Amotekun’ bill was passed into law soon.

The speaker expressed  gratitude that the state was rated positively across the world.

Obasa, who is also the Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures, described Lagos as a safe state for foreign investors.

He assured the foreign lawmaker and other prospective investors that the state was calmer than many big cities of the world.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that also on the delegation to the Lagos State House of Assembly was Ms. Alexander Herr, the Deputy Consul General of the German Consulate in Lagos.
