Fulani herdsmen under the aegis of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Association have called on southwest governors to halt operation Amotekun as it may cost the zone the 2023 presidential ticket

Alhassan Saleh, National Secretary of the Fulani group made this known during an interview with Punch. The Miyetti Allah leader commended AGF Abubakar Malami for declaring the operation illegal.

Noting the harsh economic state of the nation, Saleh faulted the governors for creating the security outfit that would drain funds from the government..funds that the government cannot afford.

“This Amotekun scheme is political and is not the solution to the problem of insecurity. What the South-West governors should have done is to continue to push for state police. Where did they expect to get the funding from at a time some of them are struggling to pay salaries?”

Saleh further said the Yoruba security operation would hurt chances of the South West clinching the presidential ticket in 2023.

“It is best they give up on this idea because it may affect the chances of the South-West to produce the President in 2023. The thinking is that if the South-West, a major stakeholder in this government, can be toying with this idea now, they may do worse when they get to power.”
