Jos was the location for the kickstart ceremony of the switchover from analogue to digital Tv which will go on to spread all over the nation.

Minister of Information and culture Lai Mohammed had earlier said that the switch was a landmark event that the federal Government was proud of. He also stated that the broadcasting industry at the local, state and national levels was going through an evolution that will provide a better viewing experience for consumers.

Lai Mohammed also stated the advantages of going digital and how it would promote more stations across the nation while costing less.

According to Nigerian Communications Week he said  “With the switch over we are revolutionizing the broadcast landscape architecture and the local, state and national economy.

“More importantly e are democratizing the right to know, the right to knowledge and the right to be informed,”

Previous attempts to switch over from analogue to digital terrestrial broadcasting in Nigeria had failed. This move if successful will make Nigeria the biggest free television market in the world and also open up countless job opportunities.
