The people of Anambra have hailed the re-introduction of community projects in the 2017 budget proposal presented to the state assembly by Gov. Willie Obiano.

The N20 million community projects in each of the 177 communities is the second by the governor this year.

In separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Wednesday, the people were unanimous in commending the governor’s effort in the development of communities.

A trader, Chief Fabian Nwibe, said that with a second round of such development projects, there would be a great transformation.

“With another N20 million to each of the towns that made up Anambra for community projects, definitely the towns will change for the better.

“Already, the effect of Obiano’s first N20 million is visible for all to see,” he said.

On his part, Mr Peter Ikeotuonye said that Anambra would not remain the same if the governor emerged winner of next year’s election.

“With the pace at which Gov. Obiano is developing towns in Anambra, the state will soon outshine other states in Nigeria,” he said.

Mrs Ngozi Ubaka, a civil servant, said that the governor would excel in politics.

“As it is now that recession is here with us and our governor is doing all this work, doling out money for development purposes, it means that politically he will still go higher than his present position in Nigeria’s politics,” she said. (NAN)
