Andy Murray beat Cameron Norrie to reach China Open quarter-finals

Andy Murray beat fellow Brit Cameron Norrie to advance to the quarter-final of the China Open. After two tie breaks Murray won the match set comfortably to make it game, set, match in a thrilling 3 hour encounter.

Murray beat British third seed Norrie by 7-6 (8-6) 6-7 (4-7) 6-1.

Andy Murray forced a tie break to win the first set while his opponent responded in the second set by forcing a tie break of his own and taking the set. Murray however ran away with the final set overpowering Norrie 6-1 in China.

Murray after the first set admit to his coaching staff that he was poor in the first set.

It is the first time he has won two straight ATP Tour singles matches since hip resurfacing surgery in January.

Murray will now face either of Austrian top seed Dominic Thiem or China’s Zhang Zhizhen.
