A day after setting the Imo State Police Command headquarters on fire, gunmen have set the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area Divisional Police Headquarters ablaze.

The gunmen were said to have shot sporadically into the air before gaining access to the police facility and proceeded to free all the suspects in detention.

It was learnt that the gunmen set the police divisional headquarters on fire after freeing the suspects.

Witnesses said that the gunmen operated for nearly an hour unchallenged.

Recall that in Monday’s attack, gunmen had also attacked the Owerri Correctional Centre, freeing almost 2,000 inmates.

The immediate-past Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu was in Imo on Tuesday to inspect facilities damaged in yesterday’s attack.

Adamu blamed members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for Monday’s attack and ordered his men to use maximum force to prevent a recurrence.
