APC Has Exhausted Its Basket Of Lies, Propaganda —Wike

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has refuted the allegations levelled against him by the All Progressives Congress that he put into motion plans to prevent the immediate governor, Rotimi Amaechi from being confirmed as a minister.

He further said the allegation was not only spurious, but also malicious, adding that APC had apparently exhausted its basket of lies and propaganda.

It will be noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had vowed to resist any move or plan to scuttle clearance of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi by the Senate for ministerial appointment.

The party made the vow following an allegation that Governor Nyesom Wike and his loyalists in the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had perfected plans to protest against the nomination of the former governor as a minister by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Wike, in the statement issued by his media aide, Inko-Taria, said the allegation was, yet, another propaganda by APC and challenged its leadership to prove itself.

“The allegation is not only spurious, but fatuous and malicious. Governor Wike has no cause to orchestrate a protest against the appointment of Rotimi Amaechi. Let me restate for the umpteenth time that Governor Wike has no nexus with the appointment of Amaechi or otherwise. It is the right of an appointor to appoint anybody of his choice, provided such appointment is in sync with the relevant laws.”

“The appointment of Amaechi will definitely have no bearing on the governance of Rivers State. There are crucial issues the governor is more concerned which are issues of the state and not trifles like the appointment of Amaechi. It is apparent that APC in Rivers State has exhausted its basket of lies and barren propaganda but still wants to be heard or noticed despite its waned popularity in the state.

“Governor Wike’s concern now is how to clear the rubbish Amaechi left behind in his eight years of maladministration that had impoverished the state and the people.

“Therefore, if APC is dispensing such unfounded falsehood as a strategem, it has failed. Or, is APC distraught that Amaechi might not scale through the screening because of his sleazy antecedents?

“If that is the problem, it should think of how to sort out its problem and not spread falsehood to gain sympathy. Governor Wike is not interested in Amaechi’s matter because it is inconsequential”, Inko-Tariah said.
