The APC Lagos Central Senatorial Youth Leader, Mr Olawale Eshinlokun-Matti has urged the party’s delegates to choose the best aspirant who could engage youth at the National Assembly in 2023.

Eshinlokun-Matti said this at the primary election for APC Lagos Central Senatorial district, holding at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos State.

The leader advised the delegates to sit and think before electing any aspirant that could do the job of representing the people, especially youths in the red chamber at the national assembly.

“He must be someone that can engage the youth positively and provide humanitarian services for the people in Lagos central just as our mother, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu has been doing,” Eshinlokun-Matti said.

Eshinlokun-Matti said that he believed that the election would be free and fair because the party had always been known to be a free and fair party.

“We have peace and justice as our motto so I believe that everything will run smoothly, devoid of violence,” he added.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that four aspirants are jostling for the APC ticket in the Lagos Senatorial ticket.

They are Mr Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, the Deputy Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Demola Seriki, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Mr Oyinlomo Danmole, a former commissioner, and Mr Akeem Apatira.

As at the time of filing this report, only Eshinlokun-Sanni was on ground among the aspirants.

The APC special congress and primary election meant to choose the party’s senatorial flag-bearer ahead of the 2023 general elections, is yet to start as at 2.15 p.m. at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

However, while members of the party’s electoral committees were still being expected, there is heavy presence of security officials and some of the delegates and aspirants were trickling into the main bowl of the stadium.

NAN reports that APC ad hoc delegates from five local government areas that comprise Lagos central senatorial district–Eti-Osa, Apapa, Surulere, Lagos Island and Lagos Mainland- will be voting at the special congress.

The ruling party on Thursday, conducted its governorship primaries while that of house of assembly and house of representatives were conducted on Friday. (NAN)
