Governor of Imo State and leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu would have joined the APC if he was still alive.

Okorocha made the comment on Friday while speaking in Awka, at a rally to formally present Senator Chris Ngige as the governorship candidate of the APC in the u[coming Anambra governorship election.

Okorocha told those gathered at Emmaus House in Awka that he vehemently believed that APC was “a truly national party that has the interest of the Igbo as one of its cardinal pursuits,” saying “that is why I want all of you to support the party because its symbol, the broom, is a sign of Igbo identity.”

He said: “Our revered leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, would have been the first to join APC. I say this because APC is synonymous with the welfare of the Igbo and Ojukwu was always seeking the welfare of the Igbo people.”

Okorocha who won his seat under APGA said, “APGA is dead and what we have now is APGA-PDP and they want to extend their slavery of the Igbo people which we are out to fight against.”

He added that three was a certainty that if APC wins the presidency in 2015, “if an Igbo man does not become the vice president, he would become the Senate President or the national chairman of the APC.”
