The governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola has threatened any student who dons a robe to school with expulsion.

This comes hot on the heels of a report that the Christian association of Nigeria was encouraging students to wear choir robes to school in protest of the legalization of Muslims wearing hijab to schools.

The governor made the threat at the commissioning of St Micheal’s Government Middle School, Ibokun in reaction to different choir robes and garments worn to Baptist High School in Iwo by some Christian students.

The governor stressed that it was wrong for any group to direct students to go against the law and if anyone was aggrieved by the decision they were to take it up with the proper channels.

He said, “Government is not interested in any religion as being speculated. My goal is to improve education standard in the state.’’

Some students of Iwo Baptist High School were already wearing church garments and robes to school as at Tuesday.
