Unknown gunmen have killed and beheaded two farmers working on their farms in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba state.

The victims in the weekend attacks were identified as Simon Bala and Timothy Awe.

According to reports, the perpetrators were armed militiamen that crossed into Taraba from Benue State. They were said to have killed the victims before cutting off their heads.

Chairman, Wukari LGA, Mr. Daniel Adigrace confirmed the development.

He said that peace had reigned in the affected community before the beheading, adding that the dastardly act gave a strong signal that all was no longer well in the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Taraba State Police Command, David Misal also confirmed the killing of the farmers.

This is just as The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) embarked on a prayer walk to protest killings and kidnappings across the country.

The General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye led the walk that held in RCCG parishes around Nigeria.

The church said it took the decision following “gruesome killings of innocent people in the country”.

RCCG said the aim of the walk was to pray for “the government to develop capacity to overcome the criminals troubling the nation.”

However, Misal said that no arrest had been made in connection to the farmers’ killing.
