Armed robber shatters colleague’s skull during operation in Ondo

An armed robber has mistakenly shot his colleague dead after robbing a lady of N60,000 at a Point-Of-Sale (POS) point in Ondo State.

The incident occurred in Okitipupa local government area of the state.

The two robbers were said to have taken flight after the victim raised an alarm, drawing the attention of residents who quickly converged to give the robbers a hot chase.

One of the robbers reportedly shot into the air to disperse the chasing mob after sensing that they could be caught.

One of the bullets was said to have hit his colleague in the head, shattering his skull.

The suspected robber that died was later identified as Kehinde.

A team of police detectives reportedly stormed the area shortly after the incident and recovered some items including a gun, a bag containing money snatched from the attendant and the cloth belonging to the other suspect who escaped.

The remains of the deceased suspect were deposited at the Okitipupa Specialist hospital by the police detectives.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Tee Leo Ikoro confirmed the incident.

He added that the fleeing suspected robber would be caught and made to face the wrath of the law.
