All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, a proverb says. To this end, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has organised a Sallah party to motivate soldiers fighting against insurgency in Yola, Adamawa on Friday, the News Agency of Nigera reported.

Buratai who was represented by the Commander, 23 Armoured Brigade stationed in Yola, Col. Aba Popoola, appreciated the efforts of the soldiers in defending their fatherland against the Boko Haram terrorists.

He also commiserated with the soldiers who were wounded in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast and wished them a speedy recovery.

“This is not the first of its kind; if you can recall, the Chief of Army staff had organised a similar event in Damaturu for the gallant soldiers,” Popoola said.

He expressed his pleasure with the rate at which the wounded soldiers were responding to treatment.

The wounded soldiers, he stated, were from the 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, Adamawa; 28 Task Force Brigade, Mubi, Adamawa; and Gwoza in Borno state.

Speaking on behalf of the wounded soldiers, Cpl. Jonathan Okiki expressed their gratitude to the CoAS for identifying with them and their families and promised they would all be ready to head back to the battlefield when they are up to it.
