It was an early kick-off for the gunners in this weekend’s fixtures of the English Premier League. Their defeat to Westham means they have now drifted further away from fourth-placed Chelsea whom they have to face next in the league. The hammers played the gunners heads-on for most parts of the match and their very young midfielder, Rice, scored his first and only goal of the match in the second half.

Rice’s goal came from a poor clearance by Granit Xhakar. Aderson quickly latched on to it and found Samir Nasri. The former Arsenal player then left a finely tuned pass for the youngster whose shot headed straight for the back of the net.

The home team was glad they defeated Arsenal. Their players couldn’t hold their excitement while speaking with reporters after the match.

Having  scored his first ever goal for the Hammers, Rice revealed, “I can’t put it into the words, the lads are always on at me to take the shot on more.”

Westham’s Captain, Mark Noble also stated, “I am delighted for this young man to score the goal…He is a special talent and keeps working hard.”

Although Arsenal gave all they had to grab an equalizer in the late stages of the match, Westham players were able to soak in the pressure, even for an additional three minutes.

The win implies that Westham are now 8th on the table with 31 points from all matches played.

Arsenal defender, Laurent Koscielny later expressed his worries about the team. He said, “It is difficult to win if you don’t score.

“In football, if you give a small chance to your opponent you pay and today we did.”
