Aso Rock threatens strict penalty for information leakages

The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari has handed down a strong warning to workers attached to the Presidential Villa, Abuja over leakage of contents of official letters.

The warning was handed down during a send off programme organised for some recently retired or redeployed officials form the office of the President’s Chief of Staff.

Kyari said that a document he signed found its way out of the office illegally, adding that workers who are caught will face serious sanctions as such development would not be tolerated.

He continued, “One thing we cannot tolerate is letters and information going out of this office. I have seen one with my signature shown to me.

“I do not know who was responsible for that; I do not know why anyone should do that; but please make sure that such a thing does not happen.

“Anything that is written will come out anyway; it is not a secret; but the bad thing is for it to come out before it is publicly made by the relevant authorities.

“So, please do not fall into this trap of somebody asking you to bring a letter, because if by accident you are found or the letter traced to you, clearly it would not be something that we would tolerate.”
