Mr Masopa Nurudeen, who is the ASUP Chairman, said at a press conference after the union congress on Saturday, that the union was aggravated by the nonchalance of the institution’s management to investigate the alleged ill treatment of a member of staff. He further stated that the union wwould withdraw it’s services on the 10th of Sept at 12am.

He also said that the decision of the Rector to proscribed their activities will not stand.

“The President of the student union deflated the tyres of one of our staff because he said the car disrupted his way

“As a union, we wrote a letter to the management to investigate the matter and that the matter should be transfer to the statutory committee of the institution.

“But we did not get a response from the management and after our congress we decided that we are withdrawing our services pending the time appropriate action will be taken on the matter. “But surprisingly, because of our resolution, the school management announced the proscription of our activities, but that cannot stand,” he said.

“We are passing vote of no confidence on the rector for lack of administrative requisite acumen. His administration is characterised with high handedness, favouritism and nepotism”, the ASUP Chairman said.

The activities of ASUP was proscribed by the Rector of the institution,  Dr John Adekolawole, who justified his decision to prescribe their activities. He stated proscribtion was based on the  decision of the union to postpone exams because of what he considered a trivial matter.

He further denied the allegations made by the union, and stated that the management has referred the matter to the Student’s Disciplinary committee and is waiting for the report.
