The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced a nationwide strike that is also indefinite.
The academic body has ordered all its members in all parts of the country to kick off the indefinite strike.
This was after a meeting of the heads of the Union on Sunday at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
According to the President of ASUU, Professor Abiodun Ogunyemi, he spoke to the press and told them that the action was commenced due to the abysmal amount of funding that institutions around the country were given.
Ogunyemi added that he had then directed all members of the union across various universities to put a halt to their services.
