ASUU Strike: New PDP youth leader to lead mass protest

Timi Frank, newly appointed National Youth Leader of the Abubakar Baraje led faction of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has said he will mobilize a mass protest of Nigerian youths against the prolonged ASUU strike.

Speaking at an interactive session with journalists in Abuja, he attributed the strike which is nearing three months now to the insensitivity of the Jonathan administration.

He said: “The attitude of the current administration under President Goodluck Jonathan to the plight of the striking workers is an indication that he has lost track with the basic tenets of governance.”

His threat came  just as members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), University of Port Harcourt chapter, made good their earlier plan to engage in mass protest.

The Uni-Port students had blocked the East-West road for over an hour, to protest the prolonged industrial action, which had kept the gate of the nation’s ivory tower shut since July 2.
