COVID-19: Atitu Denies Website Claim To Give Cash To Nigerians

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice-President, has disowned a website circulating on social media directing the public to a link.

 

Atiku disclosed that the website, with address, https//www.atikufoundation.online, is unknown to him, a frudualent website and must be avoided.

 

He disclosed this in a statement by his Media Adviser, Mr Paul Ibe, who said the message was a scam and an attempt to defraud Nigerians by acquiring vital bio-data for fraudulent purposes.

Ibe said,

 

“The website address, https//www.atikufoundation.online, given by the scammers for individuals to apply, is unknown to the former Vice-President.

 

“As a patriotic and law-abiding citizen, the Waziri Adamawa has pledged his modest public donation to the Federal Government through the Priam Group. In addition, he has proposed stimulus package for the most vulnerable for consideration by government.

 

“We hereby call on relevant security agencies to unmask these scammers and ensure that they are brought to book and their evil plots against Nigerians nipped in the bud.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, earlier issued a disclaimer regarding an alleged promise being spread on the internet by fraudsters.

 

The NCC warned Nigerians, especially telecoms consumers, to steer clear of fraudulent messages being spread on the Internet by a fraudulent website.

 

According to a statement on Thursday by the commission, a website identified as https://covid-19-fg-grant.blogspot.com/?=1, had been asking Nigerians to apply for a free Internet bundle, claiming it was being given by the Nigerian government in collaboration with NCC.
