AU condemns terrorist attack on restaurant in Mogadishu

The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has condemned Wednesday’s terror attack on a restaurant in Mogadishu, Somalia.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Addis Ababa, Mahamat expressed the AU’s heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured speedy recovery.

He reiterated the AU’s solidarity with the government and people of Somalia.

He also reiterated the commitment of the African Union to support the government of Somalia to restore peace and security.

 

 

The chairperson stressed the need for renewed and enhanced support for the AU peacekeeping mission in Somalia and Somali national security institutions as they combat the scourge of terrorism across the country. (Xinhua/NAN)
