Austrian Economist Gunther Fehlinger Urges Trump, EU to Support Biafra Republic’s Liberation

Austrian economist and pro-NATO advocate, Gunther Fehlinger, has urged U.S. President Donald Trump and the European Union to support the liberation of the Biafra Republic.
Fehlinger made the call on Monday through a post on his official X handle, describing Nigeria as a failed nation and calling for the recognition of Biafra as an independent state.
“I call the EU to recognize the Biafra Republic emerging out of failed Ex-Nigeria,” he wrote. “We failed Biafra in 1967 to 1970 during their liberation war to our eternal shame. We must make up for our failure and endorse the Biafra Republic now.”
In a separate post on Sunday, Fehlinger appealed directly to the United States, writing, “America must liberate Biafra Republic.” His comments come amid ongoing claims of genocide and religious persecution against Christians in Nigeria.
Fehlinger’s remarks have sparked fresh debate online about international involvement in Nigeria’s internal conflicts and renewed attention to Biafra’s decades-long struggle for self-determination.
