Ayra Starr Hails Acting Debut in Upcoming Hollywood Fantasy Film, Children of Blood and Bone

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has shared her excitement and newfound respect for acting after making her debut in the highly anticipated Hollywood fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone.
In a recent interview with CBS, the Rush crooner described the experience as eye-opening, revealing that working on the film demanded far more discipline than she was used to in the music industry.

“It is my first movie ever,” Starr said. “I’m used to being a singer and a diva on set, but this one with the movie is like—it’s not about you. You’ve got to be on set on time. It made me get used to military time and working hard. I respect actors so much more now. Their stamina is impeccable.”
The rising star also revealed that acting has long been a passion, though she previously shied away from it. “I love music, but I’ve always loved acting. This is the first time in my life I’ve been on camera and I’m not singing. It was amazing. I learned so much from everyone—not just the greats.”
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Children of Blood and Bone is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi. The fantasy epic boasts a powerhouse cast, including Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Thuso Mbedu.
The film is set to be released by Paramount Pictures on January 15, 2027.
