The National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu has denied resigning from his post.

He added that he was elected for a four-year tenure and has no plans to resign in the foreseeable future.

The party boss stated this in a Monday tweet by his Media Aide, Simon Imobo-Tswam.

“The PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyiochia Ayu, has not resigned and has no plan of resigning.

“For clarity and emphasis, he was elected for a tenure of four years,” the tweet read.

Calls for Ayu’s resignation have intensified since the presidential primar7]yof May 28 and May 29 that have created tensions in the party.

Loyalists of second-placed Nyesom Wike have fingered Ayu as one of the main architects of the post-primary crisis and demanded his removal as a condition for reconciliation.

This is just as the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has set up a seven-member team of loyalists led by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri to interface with Wike’s seven-man team led by Prof. Jerry Gana with a view of resolving the crisis.

The two camps are billed to meet on Monday evening in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
