The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Babachir Lawal who was relieved of his position after a Grass cutting scandal in which he was alleged to have benefitted illegally from, has said he is happy that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has come to investigate him.
Speaking on a Television show on Channels TV, Lawal said; “I like it [the investigation].
“In fact, I have always wanted the EFCC to be involved because the EFCC has the capacity both in terms of equipment and personnel to get to the truth,”
He went on to say that while he had been relieved of his portfolio, he did not expect it to be of detrimental value to his relationship with the president
“If the President were to be my brother, does it mean we cease to be brothers because I am being investigated by the EFCC? A relationship breaks because of a false accusation against an innocent man,” he said.
As to why he felt he was indicted, he said he was certain it was the work of his enemies who wanted to compromise his relationship with President Buhari saying that his enemies were scared that he was too close to the President.
“It was the President they were after,” he said
