Bad Start: Arsenal’s Oxlade-Chamberlain Injured, Out For 3 Months

Talented winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain picked up a nasty injury as Arsenal lost 3-1 to Aston Villa at the Emirates yesterday in the opening match of the Premier League season, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Gunners suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa, with a Christian Benteke brace and a late goal from Antonia Luna securing the points for the visitors after Olivier Giroud had given Arsenal an early lead.

To make matters worse, Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered what’s feared to be a nasty knee injury, that will sideline the player for three months. Gunners fans will be even more frustrated at the news after failing to secure any big transfer targets all summer long. They have only signed Yaya Sanogo on a free, and look set to miss out on Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney, with Gonzalo Higuain having already joined Napoli.

Oxlade-Chamberlain left the field at halftime, appearing to be in considerable pain.

The news will also upset England fans, as the national side have two crucial World Cup qualifiers coming up in September against Moldova and Ukraine.

The 20-year-old winger has already won 13 England caps, and made 25 Premier league appearances last term. The Gunners picked up the wonderkid from Southampton back in 2011, in a fee that could rise to £15m.
