Bandits invade 2 Katsina villages, abduct several women, burn 20 houses Sunday night

Armed bandits Sunday night invaded two communities in Katsina state, abducting several women and girls, burning houses and carting away food and animals.

The attacks occurred in Kankara town in Kankara Local Government Area and Kurfi town in Kurfi Local Government Area, The Herald gathered.

One of those kidnapped by the assailants was 11-year-old Khadija Muttakha Kurfi (pictured), the daughter of Dr Muttaqa Kurfi, a lecturer with Federal University Dutsinma.

Many other people are reported missing as a result of the attacks.

Residents also said that no fewer than 20 houses were burnt down and many animals as well as food items seized by the attackers.
