Bandits kill district head, son in Southern Kaduna

Armed bandits have killed the district head of Gidan Zaki, Zangon Kataf LGA of Kaduna State, Mr Haruna Kuye and his son, Destiny Kuye.

The armed bandits also inflicted machete cuts on the district head’s wife’s hand and shot his daughter’s finger.

It was gathered that troops of Operation Safe Haven informed the Kaduna State Government about the development.

It was further gathered that five men wielding AK-47 rifles and machetes perpetrated the acts and also tried to burn the house and a vehicle.

Troops were said to have recovered empty cases and a live round of 7.62mm special ammunition at the scene.

Soldiers and other security agents are said to be on the trail of the assailants.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has condoled with the Kuye family and the entire Atyap Traditional Council over the incident.

He condemned the incident in strong terms, describing it as a violation of the sanctity of human lives.

The governor said his administration would not rest until the perpetrators were apprehended and made to face the law.

Praying for the repose of the souls of the bereaved, el-Rufai praised Kuye’s contributions towards peace efforts in Zangon-Kataf.
