Bandits storm Gov Matawalle’s hometown, abduct many students

No fewer than 100 students have been kidnapped by bandits that stormed Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Witnesses said that the heavily-armed bandits in their large numbers stormed the school at 11:00 a.m on Wednesday as the school was in session.

“We are yet to identify the actual number of students abducted, but we believe that they would reach 100,” a resident of the area, Malam Abu Kaya, said.

He added that the school has a student population of 300, saying many of the students were whisked away by the bandits.

The Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Mohammed Shehu, has yet to confirm the attack.
