Bank Staff Docked For N300k Theft

A Marketer, Isiaka Abiodun, 28, attached to Diamond Bank was on Monday charged before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly bolting with a customer’s N300,000.
Abiodun, who resides at No. 5 Apena St., Ago Okota Palace, Isolo, Lagos, was deployed from Strategic Outsourcing Ltd., a recruitment agency to Diamond Bank.
The accused, who is facing a charge of theft, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP. Ignatius Okeke, told the court that sometime in July, 2015 at the Okota Branch of Diamond Bank, the accused stole N300, 000 belonging to one Mrs Nneka Eze, a customer.
“The accused, who collects money from customers and remits on their behalf to the bank, collected N300, 000 from a client and did not remit it.
“When the theft was discovered by the bank in November 2015 the accused absconded from work,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 285 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mr Ade Adefulire, granted the accused bail in the sum of N400, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till April 20 for hearing. (NAN)
