Barcelona Break Another La Liga Record

With their 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo on Tuesday, Barcelona have clocked 33 La Liga games unbeaten, the longest in the history of the competition.

The Catalan club, with the latest result, surpassed the previous record of 32 unbeaten games set by Real Sociedad in the 1979-1980 league season.

Barcelona achieved the feat with 25 wins and eight draws.

Ernesto Valverde’s men had overcome a difficult Valencia side 2-1 on Saturday for their 25th win of the campaign while their 8th draw cane against Celta Vigo.

A goal each from Ousmane Dembele and Paco Alcacer ensured Barca draw against an Iago Aspas-inspired Vigo side after Sergio Roberto was red-carded for a foul on Aspas.

With five games to go, the Blaugrana are expected to clinch the league title as 12 points separate them from second-placed Atletico Madrid.

They could also pick up their second trophy of the season with a win over Sevilla in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final.
