Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, has insisted he want to remain with the club and he’s not planning to leave the club anytime soon.

Messi’s future at the Camp Nou became a topic of speculation after it emerged he has a clause in his contract, which allows him to leave at the end of each season if he so wishes.

The Argentina footballer, Messi’s contract allows him to make a free move to any club of his choice outside Europe at the end of every season starting next summer, hence the interest from former England’s captain.

but Messi told Sport: “Barcelona is my home and I don’t want to leave, but I want to win.

“I want to win the Champions League, it’s been a long time since we won it.

The football club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, is already working on Messi’s next new deal, which could be his last with the club.

Lionel Messi has not been able to play in the EURO 2020 Qualifiers season due to a calf injury.

Messi started his Barcelona career at the age of 17 and has gone on to win several laurels with the club. A lot of football critics cite the immobility of the prolific attacker as a disadvantage compared to his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo. More football fans than not around the world would love to see Messi in new colours but for now, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed and wait.
