Bayelsa Deputy Chief Whip: I Have No Faith in Tinubu’s Government, He Should Apologize to Jonathan
Deputy Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ted Elemeforo, has said he has no confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) of failing to provide meaningful solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Wednesday, Elemeforo said his continued loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is based on conviction, noting that the opposition party remains a more credible alternative for Nigerians.
His comments come amid the recent defection of Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, to the ruling APC.
“I do not believe that the APC is a solution to Nigeria’s problem, and I do not have faith in the Tinubu-led APC government. I believe that the PDP would offer a better alternative to solve the problem of Nigeria,” he stated.
Elemeforo accused the APC of hypocrisy, recalling that the same reasons it used to justify former President Goodluck Jonathan’s removal from office are now evident in its own governance.
He further argued that President Tinubu and other APC leaders owe Nigerians an apology for their past protests against fuel subsidy removal — a policy they have now embraced.
“In this country, there is always a double standard. People like Tinubu that protested against oil subsidy need to publicly apologize to President Goodluck Jonathan for implementing what they earlier criticized,” he said.
Elemeforo reaffirmed his faith in the PDP’s vision, expressing optimism that the party could still restore Nigeria’s economy and unity if given another chance at the national level.
