Bayelsa Guber Poll: Heavy Shooting As Election Is Stopped In Ekeremor Town

As Bayelsans go to the polls in today’s re-run gubernatorial election in Southern Ijaw and some polling units in six other local government areas, sporadic gunfire has reportedly erupted in Ekeremor town of Ekeremor LGA.

According to Leadership, election in the town had been put on hold as political hoodlums have overpowered security agents and taken over security.

In the same vein, a standoff has also reportedly occurred between members of the Joint Task Force (JTF) and political thugs loyal to one of the frontline political parties in the election in Amassoma Grammar School in Southern Ijaw LGA.

The political thugs, it was gathered, attempted to hijack election materials meant for some units in the ward when they were accosted by the JTF.

Reports say at least four have them have been apprehended and their operational vehicle seized by the JTF.
