Be Patient With APC, We Will Deliver On Campaign Promises – Dogara

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has appealed to Nigerians to exercise patience with the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party is poised to deliver on the promises it made during the electioneering process.

Dogara said this on Saturday in Abuja in a statement through his media aide, Turaki Hassan.

He said Nigerians could justifiably blame the government if the 2016 budget fails to deliver the goods to the people by the end of the next fiscal year.

According to the statement, six months was too small for the government of the day to make any visible impact when the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government inherited what could be described as an empty treasury.

The speaker equally praised the doggedness of President Buhari, noting that he was facing massive odds.

The statement read in part: “Nigeria is passing through difficult times and the citizens need to show more understanding and patience as damages done to the country will take time to fix.

“The 2016 budget will soon be presented by the president and the appropriation bill will contain promises for the masses.

“We cannot afford to disappoint you and the mandate you gave us. Give us and the president maximum support and we shall not disappoint you.

“Change is a gradual process; with patience we will bring the desired change and development you clamour for.”
