Bearish Run Continues As All Share Index Dips By 20 Basis Points

Investors remained on the sidelines, exercising caution as the All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange lost 0.07% today compared to a 0.29% loss recorded yesterday. The bearish run recorded in the past few weeks continued today, causing the All Share Index to depreciate by 20 basis points to end the day at 29,032.44 basis points.  Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.97 Trillion.

A total of 3,074 deals were recorded on the floor today, 0.06% less than 3,287 deals recorded yesterday; the total volume of shares traded on the floor  were 181,606,881 while the total value of transactions recorded today were N2 Billion.

GUINNESS led the gainers chart for the second day in a row, adding N6.49 to end the day with a share price of N136.42, followed by UACN and STANBIC which gained N1.25 and N0.94 to close at N26.41 and N19.85 respectively; OANDO and ETI added N0.47 and N0.29 to close at N6.98 and N18.49 respectively.

The Losers chart was led by MOBIL who lost N15.01 to close at N138.99, followed by NESTLE and 7UP who lost N7 and N4.99 to close with share prices of N814 and N191.01 respectively; UNILEVER and INTBREW lost N1.74 and N0.75 to close with share prices of N33.18 and N15.25 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were ACCESS with 38,360,243 shares valued at N172 million, ETI with 27,272,379 shares valued at N491 Million , ZENITHBANK with 16,766,343 shares valued at N296 million, OANDO with 12,568,826 shares valued at N83 million and LAWUNION with 9,929,163 shares valued at N5 Million; a combined total of 102 million shares traded.

Market breadth closed negative as GUINNESS led 18 Gainers against 26 Losers led by MOBIL.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -16.23%.
