Bears Prevail As Stock Exchange Loses 0.03%

The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange succumbed to bearish sentiments as it recorded a marginal loss, slipping into the red zone by just 0.03%, compared to a 0.50% gain recorded at the last trading session on Friday. The All Share Index moved down by 7 basis points to end the day at 29,168.04 basis points. Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N10 Trillion.

The total of number of deals recorded on the floor of the local bourse were 2,713, a marginal increase from 2,711 deals sealed on Friday; the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 1,125,287,041, while the total value of transactions recorded today was N14 Billion.

UNILEVER led the gainers chart today adding N1.57 to close at N33, followed by UACN and PZ which added N1.37 and N1.18 to close at N29.10 and N25.50 respectively; CCNN and OANDO added N0.80 and N0.78 to close at N8.73 and N8.50 respectively.

The losers chart was led by 7UP who lost N5.95 to close with a share price of N185.06 followed by NB and DANGCEM who lost N1.02 and N1 to close with share prices of N135 and N162 respectively; ETI and WAPCO lost N0.35 and N0.25 to close with share prices of N18.50 and N93.75 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were GUARANTY with shares valued at N7.7 Billion, ACCESS with shares valued at N1.5 Billion, BECOPETRO with shares valued at N89 Million, CAPOIL with shares valued at N53 Million and CONTINSURE with shares valued at N35 Million.

Market breadth closed positive as UNILEVER led 25 Gainers against 15 Losers led by 7UP.
