Latest updates revealed that 9 people died in the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of NBA legend, Kobe Bryant and his 13 year-old daughter, Gianna.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva gave this update during a press conference.

According to the Sheriff, it was the pilot and eight other people, two of which were identified as Kobe Bryant and his daughter. Los Angeles County Fire Department Chief Daryl Osby said: “All survivors were determined to have been perished.

Our firefighters on the scene indicated there was a debris-filled and steep terrain with quarter-acre brushfire.

Our firefighters hiked into the accident site with medical equipment and hose lines to extinguish the stubborn fire, as it included the brushfire debris from the helicopter. The fire also included magnesium which is very hard for our firefighters to extinguish because magnesium reacts with oxygen and water.”

One of the other victims was John Altobelli, who wasn’t nearly as famous as Kobe Bryant but shared quite a few things in common with the NBA legend: Altobelli had also devoted his life to sports and inspiring young athletes.
