The senator representing Bayelsa East senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce, has called for the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to live up to his much-touted integrity by revealing who recalled, reinstated and double promoted former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, had earlier in the year gone to court and secured a judgement stopping the Senate of the National Assembly from investigating the circumstances surrounding Maina’s recall.

But taking to his verified Twitter handle on Thursday evening, Murray-Bruce accused the government of cover-up in the case.

Also, he demanded answers to the controversy surrounding the billions recovered from an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos last year.

Recall that Director General of Nigeria’s National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Ayo Oke was suspended by the president after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission found more than US$43 million in an apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Oke was finally dismissed on October 30 by Buhari after consideration of the report of the investigative committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

However, Murray-Bruce accused the government of cover-up in the matter and dismissed the government’s anti-corruption credentials.

Furthermore, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator urged the Federal Government to come clean on the amount being spent on petroleum subsidy.

He said, “3 years after, we still dont know who owns Ikoyi billions. More than a year later, the nation is kept in the dark on how much we spend on subsidy. One year after, we still dont know who recalled, reinstated and double promoted Maina. Too many cover ups for an anticorruption era!”
