Ben Murray-Bruce Explains Why He Joined APC, Backs Tinubu’s Leadership
Former lawmaker and businessman, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, has explained that his decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was motivated by his confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and economic vision for Nigeria.
Murray-Bruce, who represented Bayelsa East Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, said his defection was not driven by personal interest or political ambition but by his belief in Tinubu’s capacity to rebuild the nation’s economy.
Speaking on Thursday during an interview on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme monitored by DAILY POST, the former senator stressed that political parties were secondary to the quality of leadership at the helm of affairs.
“It’s about leadership; it’s not about the party,” he said. “Forget about party — parties are irrelevant. It’s about the man at the top. President Tinubu has shown that he can lead Nigeria, he can fix the economy, and he can put together a dream team.”
Murray-Bruce noted that while many Nigerians expect quick results, the country’s recovery will take time due to the depth of its economic challenges.
“People want immediate results, but that’s not going to happen. Nigeria is in very bad shape and needs time to recover,” he stated, comparing the nation’s economic condition to “a patient recovering from surgery.”
The media entrepreneur reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu’s administration, adding that he remains optimistic about Nigeria’s gradual path to stability and growth.
