Bentayga, fastest SUV in the world

British luxury car maker, Bentley is set to produce the “world’s fastest SUV”, the Bentley Bentayga, which is expected to claim the title from current holder, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, with a margin of one kilometre per hour.

The Bentayga, a four-wheel drive, may have been named after a mountain peak on the Canary Islands, the Roque Bentayga.

Bentley claim the SUV which comes with a 12-cylinder engine can hit a top speed of 301km/h.

According to Chief Executive of Bentley, Wolfgang Duerheimer “Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world – combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments.”

In January 2015, Wofgang Hatz, Chief Executive of Porsche R & D, the makers of the Cayenne Turbo S, had predicted that Bentley would try to surpass their flagship’s top speed, stating that the company has already put plans in place to regain what Bentley snatched from them.

However, because the SUV range is used mostly by regular folk who do not really care about top speed, observers think the ego-measuring between Bentley and Porsche R&D is totally pointless.

Both companies are part of the same Volkswagen Group super-family.
