Beware of Dame Patience – Group Charges Dickson

Incumbent Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson has been warned against befriending former Nigeria First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.

A group, The Restoration Legacy Network, gave this charge in a statement jointly signed by its General Coordinator, Mr. Sidney Olotu and the Secretary-General, Mr. Alaowei Okubotin on Tuesday.

The two were said to have had a strained relationship while the ex-First Lady’s husband, Dr Goodluck Jonathan was president, but she allegedly made a turn around, now choosing to support the governor’s re-election bid.

The group stated that the state would go back to the period when Dame Jonathan saw the state’s treasury as an extension of her personal purse if Dickson allowed himself to be deceived by her political gimmickry.

“We are strongly worried over Mrs. Jonathan’s sudden change of heart towards Governor Seriake Dickson’s reelection bid. We only hope her motive is genuine.

“This is worrisome, most especially as we headed back to the dark old days when the state government treasury was seen as an extension of her personal safe,

“We want to use this opportunity to caution Governor Dickson, to be careful how he relates with the former first lady because her sudden turn around and support will not add any value to his electoral fortune,” the statement read.

The gubernatorial election in Bayelsa is slated for December 5.
