In fact, these two-legged crafts have become so popular that a Nigerian pastor was even shown riding one to church in a video that went viral on the internet in November.

But before you consider getting one for yourself or a loved one this yuletide, please read this article…

The government of the United Kingdom has warned its citizens to beware of the product as many cheap models have pervaded the market.

The warning didn’t just stop there; citizens were told that the batteries in the cheap models could explode and lead to serious risk of fire outbreak.

According to the country’s Consumer Minister, Nick Boles, “At this time of year, consumers are under pressure to get the best presents for their loved ones; however, it is important that their safety is put above all else.

“Following recent reports of unsafe hoverboards, shoppers should think twice before choosing a product with a price that appears too good to be true.”

The position of the UK Government may have been informed by the decision of online mall, Amazon to pull down their hoverboard listings because of the dangers posed by the cheap hoverboards.

So if you are thinking of what to get for yourself or a loved one this season, you may want to steer clear of these cheap hoverboards.

  • I think the thing that you should really be worrying about when looking at hoverboards is where they’re made, and not necessarily the price, although the price is usually a good indicator of where it was made. Steer clear of the ones made in China and places like that, where they don’t have many safety regulations.
