Biafran Leader Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

Benjamin Onwuka, the leader of the Biafran Zionists Movement has been arrested by the Enugu state police force on suspicion of murder.

Onwuka who was the vocal leader of the Zionists movement was taken into custody along with 21 others who identify as members of the group.

This happened on Wednesday when Onwuka and the other members were marching along Independence Layout, Enugu.

This march was said to have been with the intention of hoisting and planting the Biafran flag at the state government house to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the declaration of the independence of Biafra.

A spokesperson for the Enugu police command, Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed that Onwuka was a person of interest in a murder case and that this was the reason for his arrest.

“Onwuka has been standing trial in the court of competent court of jurisdiction over his alleged role of murder, armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms before he resurfaced today but fell into the hands of the eagle eyed security operatives of the command,” he said

“He was nabbed within the Enugu metropolis alongside his members based on the intelligence information. Suspects are helping the operatives in their investigations.” he added in a statement.
