The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Kukah, has denied saying that presidential candidates of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi respectively, were not fit to be president of Nigeria.

The respected cleric spoke in a Monday statement issued by the Director, Directorate of Social Communications, Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Rev. Fr. Christopher Omotosho and obtained by The Herald.

Kukah blamed “certain desperate individuals” for circulating fake stories about him in the last few days, including the claim that he said neither Atiku nor Obi was fit to be president but only Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said that the claim was doctored from an interview he had with Channels Television recently.
